Protecting Your Income in the Age of Covid-19

May is Disability Insurance Awareness Month. The Covid-19 situation has made many of us reevaluate all of our insurance protections and, for many, income protection is near the top of the list.

According to the Council for Disability Awareness, more than 1 in 4 adults starting their careers today will suffer a disabling injury or sickness that will prevent them from working for at least a year. Combine that with the fact that at least 51 million American working adults are without disability insurance beyond basic Social Security coverage, and you have a potential recipe for disaster.

Ask yourself this question (which many of us have been asking in light of the COVID-19 situation), “how long could I pay my bills and maintain my lifestyle if I were sick or hurt and couldn’t work?”
