“My grandparents who lived up the street were very important to me as I was growing up. As I observed them aging and struggling with day-to-day management of their lives and their financial affairs I wanted to help them. I became interested in the law as an avenue to do this while watching my then future father -in-law and his partner help others through their law practice. My practice of estate planning and administration has allowed me to be able to help guide others wrestling with some of the same challenges as my grandparents.”

MICHAEL P. MULLANEY, Esq.

Senior Counsel

It’s easy to see why Mike Mullaney is passionate about the importance of long-term planning for future generations: he has ten grandchildren! For over 30 years, he has been helping individuals, families and business owners plan their estates, believing that all clients can benefit from proper planning, especially with the benefits of tax savings and wealth preservation. His greatest pleasure is helping clients realize those advantages and enhance their own and their family’s future.

In addition to assisting clients with tax and intergenerational planning, Mr. Mullaney assists families following the loss of a loved one or close friend through the probate and administration of wills and trusts. He works with an experienced and talented team at Pierro, Connor & Strauss guiding executors and trustees through complex estates in a smooth and tax-efficient manner and seeing that a person’s wishes and objectives are carried out without delay for the family.

Personal Life

Mr. Mullaney is a native of Schenectady and after receiving his degree in accounting from Georgetown University, he returned to the area to attend Albany Law School. He, his wife and his four children are all graduates of the Niskayuna Schools. While growing his law practice, he and his wife raised identical twin daughters and two sons. Mike coached his daughters’ softball teams and his sons’ baseball and basketball teams. In his “spare time” he pursued his passion for golf with his sons.

Mr. Mullaney believes in giving back to his community. He has also served on boards for youth sports organizations and other boards, whose focus is to improve the quality of life for families and children. He is a member of the Board of the Niskayuna Community Foundation, an organization he helped start in 2000. NCF supports projects to improve the quality of life in Niskayuna for current and future generations.
