Associate Attorney
I’m available for speaking engagements at client seminars, community groups and professional organizations.
Elizabeth “Bonnie” Weikel joined the law firm of Pierro, Connor & Strauss, LLC, as an associate attorney in 2023. She practices trust and estate planning, tax planning, and trust and estate litigation.
Bonnie graduated from the University of Connecticut in 2008, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in English Literature. Following graduation, Bonnie worked as a Residential Counselor, supporting, guiding, and caring for children and teenagers with developmental disabilities. Subsequently, Bonnie worked as a Case Manager at a pooled supplemental needs trust company. In this role, Bonnie analyzed the permissibility of disbursement requests in the context of State and Federal regulations, rules, and guidelines to determine whether the requests would negatively impact trust beneficiaries and their eligibility to apply for or continue to receive means-tested public benefits, including Medicaid and Supplemental Security Income (“SSI”).
In 2013, Bonnie joined a local law firm as a litigation paralegal, working predominantly on personal injury and medical malpractice cases. Bonnie then attended law school in North Haven, Connecticut, where she earned her J.D., summa cum laude, in May 2019 from Quinnipiac University School of Law.
Bonnie thoroughly enjoyed her time at Quinnipiac, where she excelled both academically and clinically, earning numerous awards. Bonnie was also an Associate Editor on the Quinnipiac Probate Law Journal where her student Note, “Disabling the Funds of the Disabled: How the ‘Sole Benefit’ Rule Frustrates the Administration and Purpose of Supplemental Needs Trusts” was published in 2018. Finally, Bonnie was active in Quinnipiac’s Society for Dispute Resolution, where she served as the External Competition Director and competed in Negotiation and Mediation competitions sponsored by the American Bar Association.
Bonnie was admitted to practice in New York State Courts in January 2020, and is also admitted in Connecticut State Courts, and the Federal District Court for the Northern District of New York. Bonnie is pending admission in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Before joining Pierro, Connor & Strauss, Bonnie worked for another local law firm as a litigation associate on complex commercial and construction disputes.
Bonnie is thrilled to be working at Pierro, Connor & Strauss, LLC, and brings her professional experience and interest in tax law, estate planning, supplemental needs trusts, and litigation to the team.
Bonnie is an avid dog lover and enjoys music of all genres, painting, yoga, and reading in her spare time.
