Louis W. Pierro, Esq.
Lou Pierro is the founder and principal of Pierro Law Group, LLC, and concentrates his practice in the areas of Estate Planning, Estate and Trust Administration, Business Succession Planning and Elder Law. Mr. Pierro has chaired the Estate Planning Committee and the Committee on Taxation of the Trusts and Estates Law Section of the New York State Bar Association, and its Elder Law Section. He is currently Legislative Liaison for the Elder Law Section and a member of its Executive Committee.
Mr. Pierro has been selected to Best Lawyers in America, the Best Lawyers in New York, SuperLawyers and he has maintained an AV Preeminent attorney rating from Martindale-Hubbell since 1999. He served as an adjunct professor at Siena College, where he lectured on Estate Planning from 1987-1995, and has lectured extensively on Estate Planning and Elder Law, including: National programs such as the New York University Tax Institute, Hartford Insurance National Sales Summit, and Wealth Counsel's National Study Group and annual Planning for the Generations National Symposium; State bar programs including for the New York State Bar Association (NYSBA), Nevada State Bar Association, Brooklyn Bar Association and Albany Bar Association; and numerous regional programs for the American Institute of CPAs, the Investment Management Association, National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors, Lorman Education Services, Financial Planning Association, New York State Society of CPAs, Gift Planning Group of Northeastern New York, New York City Association of Insurance & Financial Advisors, Albany Medical College, Albany Law School, among many others.
Mr. Pierro currently serves as President of the Colonie Youth Foundation and has served as a Director of the Estate Planning Council of Eastern New York, Inc.; Senior Services of Albany, Inc.; Alzheimer’s Association of Northeast New York and McAuley Residence. He is also a member of the Albany County Bar Association (Chair, Elder Law Committee 1993-1998), the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and the American Bar Association, Probate and Trust Section. Mr. Pierro is the founder and Director of Elder Counsel, a national company providing software and services to attorneys across the country. A graduate of Lehigh University and Albany Law School, Mr. Pierro was admitted to the New York State Bar in January, 1984, and is licensed to practice in all New York State Courts, the US Supreme Court and the Second Circuit Court of Appeals. Mr. Pierro is also a Partner at Compson, Eannace & Pierro, PLLC with offices in Utica, New York.
