Kimberly Strauchon Verner, Esq.
Kim Verner passionately focuses her law practice to counseling families and individuals in the areas of future care planning for persons with disabilities, elder law, Medicaid and long-term care planning, guardianships, general estate planning, and estate administration.
Prior to joining the Pierro Law Group team, Ms. Verner founded and headed the Trusts, Estates, Elder Law and Real Estate practice area of a local law firm and then ran her own solo practice. While attending Vermont Law School, Ms. Verner clerked with the South Royalton Legal Clinic where she focused her caseload on disability law issues. She also clerked with the Office of Counsel for the New York State Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities. Ms. Verner's previous work experience includes coordinating grant-funded, innovative independent living programs for persons with developmental disabilities at the Center for the Disabled.
Ms. Verner is extremely active in the disability community, currently serving on the Board of Directors for both the Down Syndrome Aim High Resource Center and the Living Resources Certified Home Health Agency. She is also a member of the Capital Region Lawyers Helping Lawyers Committee and the Elder Law Section of the New York State Bar Association, and previously served on the Executive Committee of the New York State Bar Association's Young Lawyer Section as the section's Liaison to the Elder Law Section. Her prior volunteer experience also include serving six terms on the Board of Directors of the Capital District Center for Independence, three of which were President of the Board, serving on the steering committee for the Arthritis Foundation's Health/Wealth Day seminars and sitting on the New York State Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities Task Force on Supplemental Needs Trusts and Housing Issues.
Ms. Verner enjoys educating the public and other professionals and frequently speaks on the topics of future care planning and disability law, guardianship, elder law and estate planning, Medicaid and Medicare. She has been an invited speaker at many events including New York State Bar Association and Albany County Bar Association Continuing Education seminars, the Albany County Long Term Care Symposium, and Albany Law School's Senior and Disability Law Days. She has also spoken before audiences at SEFCU, the Capital District Center for Independence, the Capital Region Executive Women's Golf Association, and the Alliance of Women and Technology. Ms. Verner has been a columnist in NYSARC's Guardianship Matters, featured in numerous publications including the Albany Business Review and has appeared on news programs such as Fox News (Fox 23 / WXXA), WGY News Talk Radio, and is a guest host on the Pierro Law Group’s radio show, “Life Happens”.
